According to our CSR policy, we, at Goel Group, aspire to lay a strong and sustainable foundation for the development of our communities, thereby securing a good future for generations to come. We believe in improving heath and wellness, ensure proper education and skill development in an environment that is sustainable with full of potential.
The Goel Group focuses on need-based CSR activities in surrounding areas, primarily to avoid duplicity of work implemented by government agencies. Our work has been highly appreciated by the concerned village panchayats, inspiring us to relentlessly strive for the betterment of the communities. The Group has spent approximately INR 3 Crores for various development activities under CSR.
HEALTH & WELLNESS
Since the commencement of Goel mines in 2013, we provide free, annual medical assistance, medical check-ups and distribution of medicines to hundreds of locals in the villages of Hahaladdi, Padgaal, Maedhon and Chaahchad in the district of Uttar Bastar, Chhattisgarh. Ambulance services and e-Rikshaws to Government hospitals have also been provided in villages. For the well-being of women, we have distributed sanitary napkins and constructed womenʼs toilet facilities in Hahaladdi, Uttar Bastar, Chhattisgarh.
Every year, Goel Group celebrates World Environment Day and World Earth Day by organising plantation drives and awareness programmes at different schools in villages near the mining sites. Under the Central Government Scheme ʻNal Jal Yojanaʼ, Shri Bajrang Power & Ispat Limited (SBPIL) has constructed bore wells, installed overhead water tanks & taps, overseen widening/deepening of ponds and has set up solar street lights for better and sustainable use of water and electricity in Uttar Bastar, Kanker, Tilda and Raipur.
GIRL CHILD EDUCATION
Annually, the Group sponsors scholarship programmes at the state level for both Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh under our flagship programme Swarnasharda Scholarship Programme. In the last three years, IBC24, a subsidiary company of SBPIL, has presented state toppers of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh with scholarships of INR One Lakh, district toppers with a scholarship of INR Fifty Thousand and the school of the state topper with a special honour fund of INR One Lakh. From 2017, divisional level toppers are also given a scholarship of INR Fifty Thousand. Swarnasharda Scholarship Programme is the realisation and a step towards our goal to educate the daughters of our country by providing the necessary support they require to showcase their talents.
DISASTER RELIEF FUNDS
The Group has actively supported the undertaking of Uttarakhand Relief Fund during the flash floods in Kedarnath and the relief funds for the cyclone-hit state of Orissa. At present, SBPIL has taken actions to combat COVID-19 by contributing INR 71 Lakhs to Chhattisgarh CM Relief Fund, out of which INR 21 Lakhs was the contribution of Goel Group employeesʼ one dayʼs salary.
SUCCESSFUL WOMEN, STRONG COMMUNITIES
Women are the invisible backbones of our homes and make a crucial contribution towards making our lives comfortable. Goel Group is committed towards women empowerment and strives to make women self-sufficient through livelihood generation. One of our initiatives involves creation of infrastructure for cafeteria and other amenities. By this we aim to train, mentor and empower women self-help groups from less privileged economic backgrounds and assist in building micro-entrepreneur skills so that they become financially independent.
Goel Group also realises the importance of early education in a person’s life. Hence, through our ‘Swarnasharda Scholarship Programme’, we provide scholarships to girl toppers in all districts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. This enables them to realise their fullest potential and prepare them to be self-reliant in the future.
One of the many successful and fulfilling endeavours of Goel Group involves vocational training of tribal women in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh. This initiative includes bamboo product development, cloth bag making to replace plastic and other cottage industry relevant skills. This has motivated women to become self-sufficient and confident and will help them in a long way towards creation of sustainable livelihoods.
